First & Folsom: Three Finalists in the Running for Block 8

Missed this Friday: Block 8, the largest parcel slated for redevelopment in the wake of the demolished Embarcadero Freeway, has whittled down its choice of suitors to three. All big names here vying for Rincon Hill: 1) AvalonBay with Bridge Housing, 2) Golub Real Estate Corp. with Mercy Housing, and 3) Avant Housing with Citizens Housing, with the latter names being the affordable housing partners. Seems Golub's team has appeared in the running after not being on a previous list of five. We're told by the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency not to expect too much variation between their respective proposals, as the program was "pretty proscribed [sic]." The site will feature a 550-foot tower standing above two mid-rise affordable apartment buildings, and then a row of townhouses— a reimagining of the street meant to transform Folsom into the butterfly of a shopping boulevard it's been dying to be.
