Bookstores Are Just Fine

New, 4 comments

Don't tell Stacey's or A Clean Well-Lighted Place, but perpetual optimist C.W. Nevius at the Chron says indie bookstores are thriving in San Francisco. The director of an indie bookseller association says independent stores normally sell 10 percent of new books— in the Bay Area, it's 55 percent. Plus, according to the respective owners of Green Apple and Booksmith, people like to use bookstores for Craigslist missed connections and tweeting book finds. These people have their fingers on the pulse of San Francisco. [SF Gate]
