Businesses Say: Sunday Streets Stole Action

New, 9 comments

Sunday Streets was nothing less than ruination for Fisherman's Wharf businesses, say some merchants. Well, not quite as dramatically. But in contrast to Gavin's PR machines, which maintained business was the same or better during the Embarcadero street fair, some business owners say they lost as much as 20 percent of their customers on what's normally a busy Sunday. Says the Pier 39 CEO: "The car count was down 7.5 percent compared to the prior week." Only 7.5? They better brace for Sunday Streets part two. [KCBS]
