Congestion Pricing for SF?

New, 7 comments

Following London, Rome, Stockholm, and Singapore, San Francisco's aiming to hop on the congestion-pricing bandwagon: the County Transportation Authority is considering fees from $1 to $4 in an 18-month study. In one scenario, FasTrak would bill drivers entering an area encompassing the FiDi, Civic Center, and SoMa. In another, drivers would be charged for entering the city during rush hour. As expected, unhappy motorists think the city should take a different tack. Says one leather-clad commuter: "They should be encouraging people to use motorcycles to reduce congestion and pollution." Hmmm. [Mercury News]
