You know what they say: if at first you don't succeed ... repair and deduct. Did you know that if you have an intransigent landlord who's not fixing your crap on time, you can get it fixed on your own dime, then subtract the cost from your rent? But don't go nuts, advises the state, because if your repair doesn't meet the law's requirement, said landlord can "sue the tenant to recover the money deducted from the rent, or can file an eviction action based on the nonpayment of rent."
