A few dozen renters in San Francisco bounce from place to place, getting evicted every few months but living rent-free in the meantime. Serial evictees have a number of tricks up their sleeves — using different names, lathering on charm to get rooms, not answering doors to avoid getting served. City and state rent laws help too: evictions are shielded from record for 60 days, and tenants get a minimum 45-day stay once they move in. [SF Weekly]
