Suburbia's Not Dead

Yet, at least, says the LA Times. Recent speculation that rising gas costs, foreclosure rates, and inflation will somehow drive suburbanites toward dense, scaled-down urban cores is hogwash— the majority of Americans live in the suburbs, and most won't up and leave unless forcibly pushed. Nobody comes between America and its Applebee's— not even Fannie and Freddie. [LA Times]
