Storefronting is Curbed's regular look at the changing retail scene, with an emphasis on how it impacts neighborhoods. Opening a store? See a store that's opening? Send the deets. We have a special place in our hearts for those who also include digital photos.
All was well with the world at last night's CB2 opening fête, according to our anonymous party reporter (and newest Curbed operative).:
Vodka and mini hamburgers! And spring rolls! And white wine! How appropriate (and predictable!). The store itself is designed very nicely: large, open spaces make one feel less cramped than one actually is. Nice mixture of industrial exposure with modern accents (like, um, white paint). Merchandise what was one might expect, but I think the quality of the pieces is better than its competitors (West Elm, EQ3, etc). Excellent lighting. As for the crowd, it was fine. Mostly the olds just showed up, not as many young folk. I noticed an overwhelming amount of well dressed men. Dandies! I counted three blatant knock-offs (Emeco chair, etc.) but who's counting?
