First the sea, and now the air. In his continuing quest to harness control of the elements and green San Francisco, Mayor Newsom has issued an executive directive in support of small-scale wind power installation. His statement calls for the Building and Planning departments to expedite permitting and minimize the costs related installing residential and commercial wind turbines. And in perhaps the biggest municipal decree since the outlawing of bottled water, the mayor has called for all city departments to include wind turbines into "the design of existing and new city facilities whenever and wherever possible So now that we'll be breaking wind with new city construction, could a rotating municipal tower be on SF's horizon? Nah.
