Few though they may be, Fisherman's Wharf does have its charms. A lot of locals might say it just stinks—literally and figuratively; area business owners have been complaining about fuel smells and oil in the water — never a good thing, but happening all too frequently lately. Blame may be thrown at the greasy feet of Exxon Mobil, who have been polluting the area for years — decades, really. No More! says one local lawyer, who has filed a lawsuit against the oil juggernaut for failing to live up to their 1994 agreement to clean up their old facility. Located at 944 Jefferson Street, the building was used from 1938 to 1992 for loading, unloading, and oil tank storage. The lawsuit requires Exxon to clean up their act and keep it that way.
