Another gold star for Gavin: on Thursday, the Jolly Mayor will make a guest appearance at the Hayes Valley Playground, where he and several other agencies will launch a chapter of the national Parks for People campaign. Hayes Valley Playground in (totally disenfranchised) Hayes Valley/Western Addition, Balboa Park in the Excelsior and Boeddeker Park in the Tenderloin will received multi-million dollar overhauls— we've heard $4 million and $8 million figures— funded by program "challenge grants."
