A rather dramatic morning for Potrero Hill: Around 5:30 this morning, a fire broke out beneath the 280 overpass at the Center Hardware and Supply Co. at 999 Mariposa Street, adjacent to Esprit Park (900 Mariposa Minnesota Street). Word has it that a small encampment of folks sleep under the overpass, and that the blaze was caused by a campfire gone awry. Reader Plug1 of whatimseeing.com has the photos, but we're looking for the nabe's story (we hear that the ratio of firetrucks to fire was disproportionate, but isn't that usually the case?).
