Greener Than Thou: City Sells Itself Solar

So many green initiatives this week— It's all becoming a blur ... The Public Utilities Commission has approved a plan that will allow the city to triple its production of solar energy it produces from municipal buildings. Pier 96 and Sunset Reservoir will host solar power plants beginning next year; they'll be owned by outside companies, and the city will purchase power directly from the plants; public buildings, street lamps, and the new-and-improved San Francisco General Hospital are to be powered by the 5 extra megawatts of energy said plants are to harness.
