Ouch: Oakland Overtaken by Green Glass Trend

New, 2 comments

Perpetrators Designers of the Greener Than Thou Public Utilities Commission Building KMD Architects are spreading their glassy green vision to Oakland; the city's planning commission has given the go-ahead on plans that include a 20-story, 32,000 square foot, LEED rated high-rise monstrosity office building at 1100 Broadway. An adjacent national
historic landmark, the Key System Headquarters, will also be dominated preserved during the process. KMD has obviously cribbed from the PUC building design: Note the "finlike panels" that got John King's knickers in a bunch a while back, along with the obvious affinity for glass. Everywhere.
