Eye on Oakland: City Says "Yes" on More Development

Putting the ages-old debate over the use of Oakland's land on temporary hold, the Oakland City Council voted to protect hundreds of acres of industrial land— but not before acquiescing to big development. Though the details have yet to be worked out, said proposal attempts to strike a compromise between existing industry and new development by preserving the land in order to keep businesses from leaving.
