Two local yokels were charged in Oakland today for running an Internet mortgage fraud scam of epic proportions: the FBI is investigating 580 affected properties in 15 states. The company, the Dorean Group, allegedly promised to eliminate homeowners' debt in "proven, legal and moral way". What they really did, however, was to flip their personal information to open new loans valued at a total of $88 million. Maximum sentence: 30 years in the cold, hard can. [KTVU]
