Shut Down!: Seven Firms Smacked for Predatory Lending

Seven bogus mortgage companies (including one, Lifetime Financial Inc., led by a 25 year-old derelict and his mother) have been shuttered by the state District Attorney in a lawsuit seeking more than $20 million in restitution for homeowners duped into refinancing, and often losing, their homes. The suspects (most, curiously, under 30) are accused of promising false rates and forging signatures, among sundry other transgressions. Making California proud! [SF Examiner]
