Daly & Co. Secure Anti-Lennar Signatures in Hunters Point

New, 12 comments

Backed politically by Supervisor Chris Daly, a small army of community groups— including the Stop Lennar Action Movement (SLAM)— served 10,000 signatures to the Department of Elections just an hour ago. These names, collected over the past eleven days by said army of hell-bent neighbors, will place a measure on the June ballot that (if passed) will require 50% of new housing built on Candlestick Point/ Hunters Point be classified as "affordable" to qualified San Franciscans. Lennar has called the plan a financially unfeasible "poison pill," as critics doubt that any developer in their right mind would take on what would amount to a guaranteed profit loss.
