Rendering/Reality: The InterContinental Opens, Grandly

New, 8 comments

Before ... and after. Set to open on Thursday, 550-room InterContinental Hotel— including the 4k square foot, $5K per-night "Presidential Suite"— is the largest hotel to open in San Francisco in 20 years. Enough with the stats, let's get down to the glass: The 32-story tower featuring floor-to-ceiling windows in every room was designed by Patri Merker Architects; the construction architect is Hornberger + Worstell. InterContinental's development strategy, according to the company, is to "follow consumer insight." Did they listen hard enough?
