Add another one to that map. The Sunset Reservoir is set to be covered with 30,000 solar panels, pending Board of Supes approval and the finalization of a contract between a private panel-provider and the city. The project, if approved, would more than double the amount of renewable energy available for purchase within the city, and could be running by the middle of next year, provided the city keeps its head above water in these rather drowny times. The project would cost up to $45 million up front, and the contract provides for the city to put up $1.6 mill of that each year for the next 25 years. Good thing they've got all that cash lying around...
