We were a bit disturbed by Eater SF's unearthing of Amici's color-coded segregated delivery map last week. Besides the fact that Amici's has no problem with the Lower Mission and yet blackballs the entirety of up-and-comin' NoPA -- isn't this shit illegal? Turns out: nope. The ever-vigilant SF Citizen went in search of the truth and turned up city code section 3305.1. By law, taxi drivers can't refuse to take you to any dicey neighborhood, but merchandise delivery people employed by private companies -- pizzerias, newspapers, flower shops -- can avoid any area of their choosing as long as they have a "reasonable good faith belief" of "an unreasonable risk of harm." Well, that clears that up.
