New Pricey Meters Will Fund New Pricey Doyle Drive

New, 2 comments

The good news: there will be, definitively, no toll for Doyle Drive. But the city still needs to come up with the rest of the cash for that $1.01 billion price tag -- so now, the bad... Beginning in the spring, high-tech variable pricing parking meters that charge more for parking during peak hours will replace a third of the city's old-school coinage boxes -- and that extra cash flow will go straight to Doyle Drive. $170 million is needed, so be prepared to pony up. Then again, you won't have to hoard quarters for anything but laundry -- the new machines will be credit-card-friendly. [ABC7]
