New Nabe Alert: Bernal Heights "South Slope Protection Area"

New, 3 comments

Last week that always effectual Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance to create a "South Slope Protection Area" in Bernal Heights. The area comprises of a few dozen houses on five total blocks, plus a large-ish parcel of scrubby undeveloped land at the south edge of Bernal set up against the 280 freeway. So: protection against what exactly? Why, "insufficient" infrastructure and emergency access routes, of course! Anyone's guess as to the specific parsing of those requirements -- especially since the rest of Bernal seems to be doing just fine. Not like we need more housing or anything -- just more infrastructure. Mmm, another cushy layer of bureaucracy with lots of soft folds for permits to go to die.
