These "when will we hit bottom?" guessing games can get a bit old— just when you think it can't get any worse, economists insist our faces haven't met with pavement quite yet. Latest forecast for rock bottom: late 2009. And for the really bad off, maybe even a little later. If it's any consolation, our downward plunge this time might be a little accelerated. But, says one economist, "the risk is that we are going to get some overshooting, meaning that prices will be lower than they ought to be." [NYT]
