That's Rather Hideous . . . and Lovely: Noblesse Oblige in Nob Hill

New, 6 comments

That's Rather Hideous (and here, lovely too) is the report filed by Curbed SF's own interior design vice squad. Spot an offender? File a complaint— or a compliment. Witness protection guaranteed. Note: As we don't employ a company sketch artist, digital photos are always appreciated.

SF Luxe tipped us to the hot mess that is the Nob Hill residence of Andrew and Francoise Skurman. And we put it that way not to snipe as per the norm, but because we truly can't decide: Is the Skurman abode hideous, lovely, or both? We're leaning toward the latter, as this vision in white-on-white is so theirs and theirs alone that it's almost admirable. Who else jams a Damian Hirst painting (top left), Louis XIV furniture, feathers, and the French flag into one domestic setting? Art patrons like the Skurmans, that's who. Mario Buatta, eat your heart out.
