Storefronting: Sketchers Still Hott, Says Union Square

Perhaps we have a grossly distorted understanding of contemporary footwear trends, but the last time we checked (which was in 1998 or 2000 or so— or, like, never.) Sketchers shoes of any ilk were already out of style. "Au contraire" said some focus group, somewhere, at some point in recent history: A massive Sketchers storefront now looms over the corner of Powell and O'Farrell, surely to open any minute now. We'll be making a bid for the platform sneaks, natch.
