Hydrogen Highway Hits Road Block

Arnie's vision in green— a "hydrogen highway" completed by 2010 and lined with fueling stations for non-polluting hydrogen-powered fuel-cell vehicles— has stalled out. The last three agencies to receive state funding for the project have ducked out, including PG&E; the company has elected to nix building plans for a crucial Bay Area fueling outpost. (But don't worry— PG&E will still accept consumers' monthly payments to their Climate Smart program in order to "neutralize" utility usage. No problem.) [SJ Merc]
