Mint Plaza Makeover Enters the Home Stretch

[Mint Plaza, 1:32pm this afternoon]

We stopped by the Mint Collection this afternoon for progress check on how the makeover of the buildings surrounding Mint Plaza, in the SoMa/Tenderloin DMZ, is going. But what caught our eye was the progress being made on the plaza itself. Above, check out the rain garden, the greenery for which just went in yesterday, as well as the cobblestones that were being laid down before our very eyes. Of course, the plaza aims to have a role as an upscale food court, too (our colleagues at Eater SF will have fresh pre-opening reports from the Mint Plaza restaurant collection soon). And the fine folks at the Mint Collection revealed that although the plaza's formal opening won't happen until November, they hope to have all barriers and fencing removed by mid-October. Nice.

Judging by the renderings, the plan is ultimately to cover this canopy with greenery.

More from the Mint Collection next week. Please stand by.
