Sold quietly to the Institute on Aging in 2005 before the preservationists could raise a ruckus, the 1949 Coronet Theater on Geary Boulevard finally came down this week. We're all about senior housing and services. And lets face it, movie palaces are over. Still, the Coronet's graphic, striped presence by Cantin & Cantin was a landmark on Geary. To be replaced by more stucco hideousness, no doubt. Destructoporn from The Front Steps. What about that street? Elderly people and Geary Boulevard=roadkill. Crossing guards? Armored Segways?
