Demolition Porn: Tenth & Market

Site clearance continues at Tenth and Market Streets, where a new building by Heller Manus will have a view of Fox Plaza and more. Big rendering of the new building from SF Condo after the jump. There's still talk of a food hall a la Ferry Building in the vast ground floor space a half-block east on Market currently full of sofas. But shit, with apologies to One Rincon Hill, this neighborhood is full of butt-ugly buildings.

Tenth and Market is a desolate intersection with the big, unfriendly Fox Plaza, a homeless shelter and six lanes of traffic headed straight for the 101, so hopefully a few hundred new residents will make it a little more lively. Plus the in-progress Argenta. And maybe some retail? We like the big curve on the corner of the new building, but years from now will these post-Jetson details on top look tired, like the post-Deco ornaments on the Marriott down the street? Fashion is tough. Architecture is harder.
