50,000 gallons weighs 416,500 pounds. That's the weight of the freaking water tank, or "liquid damper" installed at the top of One Rincon Hill to prevent motion sickness and disconcert of any kind should a wind storm throw the tower for a loop. No connection to its seismic safety, apparently, but there's gotta be a release valve in there somewhere, right? Fireproof elevators, schmierproff elevators! [SF Gate]
