Update: Mission Building Burned Out, Still Closed

One firefighter was injured this morning as a roof collapsed due to yesterday's long, drawn out blaze on Mission Street, between Seventh and Eighth Streets. The area has been effectively locked down, an order that will remain in place until the wood-and-brick framed building is demolished within the week. (Union Square rats beware of traffic congestion.) The site was hosed down with water and foam throughout the day— biodegradable foam— but nevertheless burned through the night. Knights of the Red Branch, time to find a new clubhouse. May we suggest a loft at The Potrero?
