Earlier in the week we received the following queries; our readers responded in kind:

Q: The corner of Van Ness and California is torn to shreds— what I think was once a car dealership or something like that is now under heavy construction. Condos? Commercial?

A: One reader believes that the SF Ford dealership is relocating from its Mission Street location; another confirmed her hunch with a quick search of city records. A third informed us that it was the Ellis Brooks Chevy building for about a century beforehand, which inspired a group type-a-long of the company jingle. Love it.

Q: What's going down on 14th Street, between Guerrero and Mission?

A: Trusty reader (and research maverick) Towse hit up the city records again. This time, however, we have conflicting reports: one claims a 12 unit, four story building. Another, 11 units, while a third variance indicates a four story building with three units and a two-car ground floor garage. We'll just hold out on this one for a while ...
