East Bay Fire Sale

If an individual homeowner wants to sell and the market slows down, he can usually just decide not to move. Not so with developers, who are doing everything they can to clear the those empty units out of inventory for next year. While it seems new homes are still moving in San Francisco, developments in the East Bay are having increasingly crazy promotions like covering closing costs, two-day sales, flat-out (and significant) price reductions, and offering buyers agents a much larger share of the commission. If the market downturn is ongoing, patience could prove a deal-seekers' best friend. [The Chronicle]
