Asks Off Beat Homes: Can you build a green Mc Mansion? Frankly, we can't believe that this isn't happening in San Francisco or its environs— Mega real estate mogul Frank McKinney is developing what he hopes will be the world's largest certified green domestic residence, Acqua Liana (+1). RIVR Media is recording his odyssey— one that he's undertaken without a buyer, incidentally— for a documentary-in-progress called The Green Giant. Mc Kinney, who sports a mane not unlike Michael Bolton's and a wardrobe akin to Rod Stewart's (-1), is a self-proclaimed "real estate artist" whose XXX-L, decidedly un-green homes have sold for up to $50 million. Did we mention that he's also a two-time author and public speaker. McKinney also runs the "Caring House Project Foundation," an initiative that builds housing for and in developing nations. (+1) Says McKinney of the environment in the 20/20 spot on his project: "I don't have any scars on my chest from hugging trees." (-1) On the subject of a prospective sale "I don't eat until this house is sold." (-1) Total score: -1.
