Westfield's Grand Opening

Exciting times on Market Street today, with six Chronicle articles to prove it. The Westfield SF Centre opened grandly this morning (and does anyone know this woman who was waiting for the brand new 338,550-square-foot Bloomies to open, since 4:30am?) and the festivities were subtle: dancers rappelling from the ceiling, cheerleaders chanting "Shop at Bloomies," and a jazz singer crooning "At Last." After so much time walking past the boarded up construction area, it feels like Market Street itself opened up. Union Square is getting nervous about the competition, Cody's is anxious about Borders, everyone is freaking out about parking, and H&M is reportedly not caring at all.
