Rumblings & Bumblings Responses: Vacant Lots Aplenty

Answers to Thursday's questions, submitted by actual readers, below. If you've got a better answer, another question, or a sweet, sweet digital photograph, send us a line at sf@curbed.com.

1. The Mission: What's up with the strange half built structure on the corner of Mission and 18th? A Reader said "Once and future home of Duc Loi grocery, with apartments on top," and according to the Guardian the planned "five-story, 23-unit apartment building" (with three affordable units as per the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance) will be completed "within the next 18 months [by] developers T.C. Che and Associates."
2. The Mission: Anyone know about plans for the now vacant lot at 18th and Shotwell? Well, yes, we were told that "Apparently, the builders at 18th and Shotwell hit water when digging to put the foundation in. I'm guessing they hit remnants of Mission Creek, which was filled in some time ago. There is now talk of getting trying to get the city to buy it and convert it into a park since it can't be built on." Maybe someone should call REBAR.
