Using the Department of Building Inspection's Amy Lee as a cudgel, Beyond Chron beats up on The Chronicle's Matier & Ross. Unfortunately it just digs the hole deeper, with Lee implausibly accepting stuff and then returning it, making her an innocent victim of string-pulling and palace intrigues.
As for her quote in yesterday's Chronicle:
"An employee may not use information that isn't available to the public," said Lee. "But the public can come in off the street every day and ask for code enforcement activity on any property." a tipster did let us know that DBI permit tracking is in real time, which means you don't have to have a desk at the Department to find out what's up with specific properties- you can do it from home in your jammies. Sort of like blogging.
