Golden Gate Park was almost auto-free yesterday. We assume all weekend as well. The bicyclists still insisted on speeding through bunches of pedestrians on the sidewalks- which are, admittedly, bike paths as well- but we just chalk that up to cyclo-imperialism.
The de Young was packed at 4PM. People seem to have actually walked there, despite Dede Wilsey's dire warnings that no one would ever, ever go to the museum if they couldn't find parking.
Bottom line: It's a great park, Gavin, but it's glorious without automobiles. So step up to the plate.
