Going up between Valencia and Guerrero at 15th Street, Van Meter Williams Pollack's Valencia Gardens of 2006, rising from the ashes of William Wurster's Valencia Gardens of 1939-43, a housing project so run-down and over-run by drug dealers that no one seemed to notice- or care- it was by one of the Bay Area's great modernists.
Occupancy mid-2006; a Hope VI project. There's perhaps a respectful nod to Wurster in the massing and rhythms, and especially in the windows. No palm trees here, strictly a decorative pear clone named Autumn Blaze.
