Halloween All Year Round

166 Arguello, built in 1903 by Newsom & Newsom, a very successful turn-of-the-20th Century architectural firm with offices in both Oakland and San Francisco (and no relation to our Mayor.) Five stories culminating in a bewitchingly steep gable, it appears to need a new kitchen and baths, and the exterior should probably be restored to its original dark brown. The house looks directly into the courtyard of the spectacular Byzantine-style Temple Emmanuel on a street lined with mansions in various revival styles. Two blocks from the Arguello Gate of the Presidio. And the golf course (whatever.) Open house on Sunday, April 30.
