Sold!

And not a moment too soon. This house by Paul Williams- his only built design in San Francisco- finally appears to have sold. We've lost track of it's original asking price, but they've had to lop off close to $1M in the two years its been on the market.

In LA, where Williams worked most of his career, he's an architectural icon. He was one of the best of a generation of architects- John Staub in Texas, Mott Schmidt in New York, David Adler in Chicago- who could link the vocabularies of traditional styles and the modernism that was in the air in the 20's and 30's. Williams did it for movie stars and film industry heavies, putting them in Palladian temples and English country houses in in the Hollywood Hills..
