Friday To-Do List

Take in the yuppie passeggiata at Crissy Field, the spectacular waterfront recreation area reclaimed from a Presidio airstrip. The foot/bike path stretches from the Marina to Fort Point at the foot of the Golden Gate bridge, along a sandy beach and a re-created marsh, ending where Jimmy Stewart pulled Kim Novak out of the water in Vertigo.

Refuel with a hot dog from Let's Be Frank; made from 100% grass-fed and -finished beef, grilled and served on an Acme Baking bun. Located next to the Warming Hut, they fire up around 11am and close when the dogs run out, around 3pm. Weather permitting, of course, and 15% of the proceeds goes to the GGNRA Conservancy.

Asparagus for All
Saturday Morning: the First Annual Asparagus Festival at the Ferry Plaza Market. We recommend the deep-fried.

Cross That Bridge
Take a tour of the San Francisco Bay Hydrological Model in Sausalito. At 1.5 acres, it encompasses the entire Bay Area and gives a stunning picture of what's beneath the water all around us. A liitle frayed about the edges, but still fascinating. More here. Then head for retail therapy at Heath Ceramics one of the remaining mid-20th century California artisan potteries.
