Meanwhile, New York may be developing their own version the Ferry Building.

The Battery Maritime Building, a 1909 ferry terminal- and expected to be the ferry terminal for a re-invented Governor's Island- could become a food hall (and farmers market?) Considering the success of the Ferry Building Market in transforming the waterfront here, this would be a fantastic addition to lower Manhattan, potentially tipping even more commercial buildings to residential conversion.

And then they could just turn Governor's island into an organic farm.
