Thursday: We Sense a Theme

The Chronicle seems to have worked up a theme today, and it's Public Spaces:

In San Mateo, thye're serving Calatrava Lite. On the other hand, any projects that reconnect to the Bay are worth having, right?

Then along comes the The Bay Center, a proposal for Pier 45 at Fisherman's Wharf a project that's been limping along for years. It's hard to tell what the Bay Center wants to be, and with quotes like "People think the bay is really cold and really wet and they don't want to get too close to it" let's hope hot and dry have been both been included in the planning process.

They're calling it an "interactive science hub." Presumably a fully-merchandized science hub. We'll settle for foot paths any day.

And a proposal to fill in Homeless Central: Yes, please! Halladie Plaza is icky! It's hard enough to drive by; walking through is out of the question.
