Ron Blatman, the documentary filmmaker who won an Emmy for his PBS series Saving the Bay, is turning his attention again to San Francisco with a new documentary called Saving the City. Blatman, a former City Hall director of business development, advocates more density and more height as solutions to San Francisco's housing shortage. He compares Mission Bay to a similar, much more bustling neighborhood in Vancouver, where housing towers stand tall amid green space, in contrast to Mission Bay's low-slung buildings.
