The new connector tram that takes passengers from BART to the Oakland Airport is officially open, but even as it starts carrying passengers it continues to have detractors. The connector is 3.2 miles long and cost $484 million to build, which is more than $150 million per mile. Critics say that the new connector will serve only a small portion of BART's ridership and is too expensive, at $6 per trip. [SF Examiner]
