Start-up rents comprise a fairly minor portion of overall spending, according to the results of a survey sent out to start-ups that have graduated from the prestigious Y Combinator accelerator program. The median rent paid by respondents is $6,100 per month for space for about ten employees, and most of the companies were located in San Francisco or the South Bay.
