San Francisco is lagging far behind in hotel room development, according to the San Francisco Business Times. Out of 320,750 rooms in the national pipeline, only an estimated 1,440 rooms have been proposed in the city, with only one 174-room hotel in construction. Apparantly "the city's high cost of construction and labor, coupled with a limited availability of land to build, are holding new projects back." [San Francisco Business Times/Curbed SF]
