Whole Foods in the Haight: Late 2010, Minus Apartments

2009_11_wholefoodshaight.jpg

The apartments are long dead at 690 Stanyan, and as was confirmed back in May, Mark Brennan, owner of the former Cala Foods lot in the Haight, has instead settled for a regular ol' Whole Foods. No homes, no mixed-use, just a parking lot and a high-end grocer. Brennan announced the finalized deal yesterday in an email newsletter, saying that there's no hard timetable, but a store opening should occur in late 2010. The developer reiterated his regret over the nixed project, but said the return of a full-service grocer would nonetheless be beneficial to the neighborhood.
